Our Tutors

Over the course of the school year we had close to 100 volunteers from as many as 20 high schools, colleges and community ensembles participate as tutors with SMP!

We are honored to have had students from the following schools as part of our tutor team this past year: Ballard High School, Bishop Blanchet High School, Cleveland High School, Franklin High School, Garfield High School, Holy Names Academy, Ingraham High School, Lakeside School, Mercer Island High School, Nathan Hale High School, Newport High School, Roosevelt High School, Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences, Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle Pacific University, Seattle University and the University of Washington.

It is not only the younger children who benefit from participation in our program – the lives of SMP’s tutors are invaluably enriched as well. In addition to the inherent rewards of community service, tutors gain job experience and leadership skills, improve their own musicianship and strengthen their own optimism by directly addressing an inequality in their lives.
