Program Director
Description:
The Program Director is a senior-level position directly responsible for all programs (primarily the after-school program) of Seattle Music Partners. The Program Director will oversee the development, administration and evaluation of all programs. The Program Director will directly supervise program volunteers and will work closely with the Executive Director on setting and managing strategic programmatic goals. The program director will be involved in community engagement and will strategically represent Seattle Music Partners in the community. The Program Director will also contribute to the fundraising efforts of the organization.

Ensure Program Quality & Provide Organizational Management:
Since SMP has a very small staff, the Program Coordinator will have a significant impact, playing a role in most SMP activities. The Program Coordinator will collaborate closely with existing staff and directly with students, volunteers, families and school personnel.
Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring the delivery of high-quality programming to students and families, including maintaining and enhancing relationships with community partners and the Seattle Schools District. 
  • Develop systems for program delivery at current sites and leads program coordination across the Seattle School District. As a member of the senior management team, provides broad organizational leadership with an emphasis on cultivating and enhancing a strong organizational culture in a culturally responsive way.

Evaluate, Track and Report on Progress:
  • Responsible for tracking, evaluating and reporting on programmatic progress on a day-to-day basis, as well as developing program improvements.
  • Work closely with staff to evaluate and analyze programmatic data to identify trends and progress.
  • Use appropriate benchmarks and internal and external comparatives to measure program success.
  • Recommend and lead implementation of corrective action as needed to achieve desired program outcomes. Leads on all program evaluation.

Human Resources & Office Management Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the Executive Director and Music Education Director to manage the day-to-day activities of the program volunteers and staff.
  • Responsibilities include partnering with the Executive Director to oversee all program volunteers.
  • Ensure staff and service member alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversees annual program training and works closely with Executive Director on program-wide orientation efforts. 
  • Post/publicize volunteer openings and conduct volunteer selection.
  • Partner with Executive Director to oversee the office environment, helping to create positive work environment and culture.
  • Maintain office organization and cleanliness. 
  • Partner with Executive Director to develop and implement program budget for each fiscal year. 
  • May analyze budget performance on a regular basis.
 
Education/Certifications/Licenses: Bachelor's degree required. 

Related Work Experience:
  • At least 2 years of related successful experience demonstrating progressively increasing levels of responsibility;
  • Experience in leading and managing cross functional teams;
  • Experience in classroom instruction and curriculum design
  • Experience in strategic planning and program expansion.
 
Other Skills, Abilities and Requirements:
  • Ability to read music required;
  • Strong management skills with significant experience managing people and programs;
  • Must have a desire to engage in diversity, inclusion and/or equity work;
  • High energy with the proven ability to engage, inspire and motivate others;
  • Passion for and demonstrated commitment to Seattle Music Partners mission;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, promote and deliver positive results;

  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
 
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits are available.
