For Families
Seattle Music Partners offers an after-school music program that provides a unique opportunity for young students.
We recruit, train, screen and match high school, college and community musicians to work one-to-one with students at our four partner schools. These musicians volunteer every week as music tutors as well as role models.
Our program runs after-school, one day a week, at each of our partner schools. Snack is provided and bus transportation home is available (in most cases). Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are able to loan instruments for home practice without charge.
Beginning with the 2011/2012 school year, we will expand our program to two afternoons a week at select sites to increase instructional and instrument ‘touch’ time for our students.
What Days Do We Offer Music Lessons?
In the 2011/2012 school year, we will offer our program to 4th and 5th grade and middle school students at the following schools:
- Bailey Gatzert Elementary School (Thursdays and Fridays)
- Thurgood Marshall Elementary School (Mondays)
- Leschi Elementary School (Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
- Washington Middle School (Wednesdays)
Students must commit to attend all sessions offered at their school to participate.
*Space is limited at each location and preference is given to the underserved populations at each of our partner schools.
