High Notes

Meet Stefan Skalbania, Roosevelt High School junior, guitar player, crew jock and Eagle Scout candidate. For his Eagle Scout project, Stefan undertook an instrument drive to benefit Seattle Music Partners. Stefan collected close to 30 used instruments (and funds for refurbishment) to help assure that each of our students is able to practice at home.

Stefan explains: “I tutored with SMP during my freshman year and saw how much learning an instrument meant to the kids. Every child should have the chance to enjoy playing music. Music has had an incredibly positive effect on my life and I want other kids to experience that too.”

Thank you Stefan!

How to Help

The success of our program and our ability to fulfill our mission depends on your support.

One hundred percent of our funding comes from the generosity of our community.

We need money for ongoing operations, including instrument acquisitions and repairs, transportation, teaching materials, guest performances, staffing and other capacity building to support our recent and planned growth.

There are several ways you can help:

Make a Financial Contribution: We welcome contributions of any size from individuals, foundations, civic, community and corporate donors. Checks should be made payable to “Seattle Music Partners” and mailed to our business address: Seattle Music Partners, 4533 Sunnyside Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103.

Donate a Musical Instrument: We currently are accepting (in good working condition, please) flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, alto saxophones, trumpets, trombones, French horns, violins, violas, cellos, double basses, acoustic guitars and percussion instruments. For further information, please contact our executive director at scott@seattlemusicpartners.org.

Volunteer! We welcome the help of volunteers who are interested in participating in our program, whether as a tutor or otherwise – you don’t need to be a musician to help! For further information, please contact our program coordinator at lindsey@seattlemusicpartners.org.

Seattle Music Partners is a Washington not for profit corporation and is classified as a 501(c)(3) organization by the Internal Revenue Service (EIN 20-8258002). Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
