Marie Johnston started her music journey with violin 20 years ago and made the transition to cello 13 years ago (7 years after starting violin). At Western Washington University, she received her Bachelor's in Cultural Anthropology and studied a minor in music under the studio of Dr. John Friesen. There, Marie had a chance to work with amazing cellists such as Lynn Harrell, Jussi Makonen, and Efe Baltacıgil. Marie then continued her studies at Seattle University in the Student Development Administration Master's Program. After graduating, Marie works at Seattle University as the Assistant Director of the International Student Center and continues exploring her love of music with SMP.
