Welcome to Seattle Music Partners
We at Seattle Music Partners believe that music is a powerful tool for inspiring and empowering young people.
Because music-learning opportunities are often limited or inaccessible, SMP provides a free after-school music program for underserved elementary school students in Seattle’s Central District. We also provide a unique opportunity for skilled musicians to give back to their community.
We recruit, train and support skilled high school, college-aged and community musicians as volunteer music tutors and mentors who lead one-on-one music lessons each week. These lessons are supplemented with a second afternoon of group instruction and ensemble work. We also provide instruments to participants and transportation where needed.
At SMP, we pride ourselves in building a program with a keen focus on quality music instruction, youth development and social justice. Our proven record of access, our commitment to increasing the depth and quality of our programming and our focus on providing a safe and supportive environment where both our students and volunteers can explore their talents evidences our strong commitment to these goals.
